Established in 1871 and located in the Domain precinct with extensive views of the Sydney Harbour, The Art Gallery of NSW (the Gallery) is significant cultural organisation which exhibits fine international and Australian art in one of the most beautiful art museums in the world. The Gallery is a unique place of experience and inspiration, with collections, exhibitions, programs, and research. 

The Art Gallery of New South Wales’s expansion, the Sydney Modern Project will create a new art museum experience across two buildings connected by a public art garden. Our new Gallery building, designed by SANAA an architectural firm based in Tokyo, Japan.  The Gallery will almost double the exhibition space, with seamless connections between indoor and outdoor spaces, delivering rich and diverse experiences for all our visitors. 

This exciting and unique opportunity is to seek a single caterer to provide catering services across all Gallery retail outlets and events. Included services for the newly upgraded Art Gallery Society Lounge under a separate management agreement.

The vision for our catering services, is to deliver a world class diverse choices for the café, restaurant, external kiosk and events to our customer base.

From the Gallery’s Fine Dining Restaurant and SMP café which we envisage will be partnered with an ambassador chef to our everyday kiosk and café in the Domain. In addition, to the retail outlets the Gallery holds a huge number of events from corporates to weddings with events offering the most growth for any potential caterer. This partnership offers the chance for caterers to push the imagination to provide exceptional experiences, that can be shared by a diverse group of visitors against our amazing gallery spaces and Art.

Open Tenders - An invitation to tender by public advertisement with no restriction placed on who may tender. Tenderers will normally be required to demonstrate in their tender that they have the necessary skills, resources, experience, financial capacity, and in some cases licences, accreditations, etc., to fulfil the tender requirements.

If you would like to participate you will need to sign a confidentiality agreement, please register your interest at tenders@ag.nsw.gov.au.

The Gallery will then issue the confidentiality agreement once completed the password to get access to the tender package will be issued to you.

You will then be invited to a site briefing on Friday 20 May 3pm -5pm. Note that you will only be able to attend once the confidentiality agreement is completed and an invitation has been issued.
