Strategic Procurement Outlook

The Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) directly supports approximately 800,000 people every year and reaches a further million people through local community-based programs.

The Department of Family and Community Services vision is to empower all people to live fulfilling lives and achieve their potential in inclusive communities. We collaborate with government, non-government and community partners to work with children, adults, families and communities to improve lives and realise potential, with a focus on breaking, rather than managing, disadvantage.

Commissioning is FACS’ way to directly engage and involve our clients, and our service partners, in shaping the supports we provide. It is a structured approach to the design and delivery of services, aimed at achieving the best possible outcomes for clients in the most efficient, effective and sustainable way. It is a process designed to bring greater rigour and focus to FACS’ work.

Our strategic procurement goal is to support the delivery of quality outcomes for FACS by aligning procurement to business needs and ensuring value for money. Consistent with FACS’ vision and objectives, we also prioritise sustainable and ethical procurement, and consider the social impact of our procurement activities.

The Department is accredited under the NSW Procurement Board’s Agency Accreditation Scheme for Goods and Services Procurement and conducts its procurement activities in accordance with the NSW Procurement Board Directions, NSW Government Procurement Policy Framework and the terms of its Accreditation.

This strategic procurement outlook covers goods and services procurement activities of some or all agencies and entities within the agency at the discretion of the Secretary, Department of Family and Community Services.
