Tender Details

The brief is to investigate whether a tool has been developed which can be utilised in land use planning and operations to provide a risk assessment for evacuation planning in various emergency bush fire scenarios. The tool would need to be able to be used to calculate the level of existing risk within a community and the level of projected risk as a result of new development. It will also be used to compare against acceptable risk benchmarks for planning purposes for development in bush fire prone areas.

If a tool such as this has been developed, identify:

- who owns the tool;

- the capabilities of the tool;

- whether the tool is appropriate for the needs of the NSW RFS;

- whether the NSW RFS can get access to the tool;

- whether the NSW RFS can utilise the tool.

If a tool has not yet been developed, identify the following:

- whether any early work has been carried out by other agencies in developing such a tool;

- whether there are reasons why this work has not progressed to full development of a tool;

- whether any similar tools have been developed, eg. for other emergencies such as flood, earthquake etc.
