Tender Scope – Contract RFT-10011781
Lightning Ridge is a town in north-western New South Wales, in the Walgett Shire, near the southern border of Queensland and is about six kilometres east of the Castlereagh Highway. Lightning Ridge is served in commercial activities by the town of Walgett, some 75km to the south.
The Walgett Shire Council has now decided to improve the quality of the water supply at Lightning Ridge. As the main issues relate to the water’s high temperature (making chlorination difficult) and H2S (most complaints from the consumers relate to the rotten egg smell) it has been decided to install a cooling tower and a permanent reliable chlorination system.
The cooling tower will be able to reduce the temperature coming into the reservoirs at about 30°C to less than 25°C. At the same time the H2S will be reduced. The aerated/cooled water will then be effectively chlorinated utilising a new chlorine gas system. The residual chlorine levels will be monitored and registered by a residual chlorine analyser
The Contractor shall design, supply and install and commission, but not limited to the following items:
- Cooling tower;
-
Chlorine storage and dosing system;
-
Balance tank;
-
Installation of transfer pumps;
-
All associated pipework, mechanical and civil works; and
-
All associated electrical and telemetry works.
