Approximately 400,000 plans have now been captured into LandXML over New South Wales. To ensure value for money and consideration of changes in technology and potential vendors, SS is going back to the open market to engage a supplier to undertake the bulk digitalisation of survey plans for the remaining collection of Deposited Plans in NSW, now inclusive of Crown Plans and Strata plans.
SS have developed an Amazon Web Service environment as a storage, management and delivery solution for digital plan data. Successful suppliers will need to be able to interact with this system. The system will be used to both deliver plans to the supplier and return the plans to SS using this API services.
SS have recently undertaken a pilot project to capture Strata plans into a digital format that can allow the data to be extruded into 3D. A supplier will need to capture strata plans into a data format compatible with various 2D and 3D platforms. SS have had positive outcomes in the use of Geopackage but consideration will be given to other data formats that offer the same advantages and flexibility.
A pilot is underway for the capture of Local Government and utility provider Development Application (DA) Plans into a digital LandXML file for use in a proposed layer, enabled in the Amazon Web Service digital file storage and delivery service. The proposed layer is an important service SS will provide to Councils, utility and others. Councils will upload these plans to the AWS. This will trigger a flag to the supplier to capture that plan digitally. We have had success in the pilot capturing these plans in LandXML, however consideration will be given to other data formats which offer the same versatility and use/ingestion of the digital data file by other platforms.
