Tender Details
The NSW Department of Education, through its Early Childhood Education Directorate is intending to seek Expressions of Interest to identify potential suppliers with the capability and capacity to develop and implement the Deadly Teachers Solid Jarjums – an Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, Perspectives and Pedagogy Program to Early Childhood services across four state regions.
Start Strong funding has increased the number of Aboriginal children across the state enrolled in Early Childhood Education programs for 600 hours per year. The Deadly Teachers Solid Jarjums program builds on this success by supporting early childhood educators to provide quality culturally inclusive programs to help maximise the education outcomes of Aboriginal children.
The Program has five core objectives:
- develop localised cultural awareness among early childhood educators
- support early childhood educators to embed Aboriginal perspectives and pedagogies in line with the Early Years Learning Framework
- build early childhood educators confidence to provide a culturally rich and safe learning environment for all Aboriginal children
- support all children in learning Aboriginal culture, history and their local Aboriginal community
- increase the participation of Aboriginal children and local Aboriginal community within services
The Program is expected to be implemented in early 2019, to a minimum of 20 services within each of the four (4) chosen regions (Sydney Metropolitan, Hunter / Central Coast, New England North West and Central West) and supported throughout the school year.
