The Easing Sydney’s Congestion Program Office of TfNSW is holding an industry information session for businesses interested in upcoming construction opportunities for the Easing Sydney’s Congestion program of works.

Projects include:

  •  Intersection improvements at Devlin Street, Blaxland Road and Parkes Road, Ryde: The NSW Government has funded this project as part of its $300 million Urban Roads Pinch Points Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve travel time on Sydney’s busiest corridors. Currently, motorists experience delays at Devlin Street, Blaxland Road and Parkes Street intersection, particularly during peak periods. To improve this, we are removing the merge under the Victoria Road overpass and creating an additional northbound lane from Victoria Road to Blaxland Road. We will also be upgrading the traffic lights.
  • Princes Highway upgrade between James Street and south of Torres Street, Blakehurst: The tidal flow arrangement operating between James Street and south of Torrens Street, Blakehurst allows traffic on one lane of Prices Highway to travel in either direction depending on traffic conditions. It improves the flow of traffic during peak periods by altering its direction to accommodate additional traffic. This project will provide motorists with a permanent solution to traffic congestion, by widening the Princes Highway to provide an additional lane.

  • Pacific Highway upgrade between Turramurra and Wahroonga: The NSW Government is funding the Pacific Highway upgrade as part of the $300 million Urban Roads Pinch Points Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve travel times on Sydney’s busiest corridors. Around 60,000 vehicles a day travel on Pacific Highway between Turramurra and Wahroonga. The intersection of Pacific Highway with Finlay Road, Fox Valley Road and Redleaf Avenue and Coonanbarra Road were identified as pinch points, or bottlenecks, on this busy corridor. These intersections service surrounding residential, commercial and industrial areas, as part of the major arterial road to Sydney’s central business district from the north western suburbs and are key to accessing the Central Coast via the M1 Pacific Highway. The proposal aims to provide northbound travel time savings particularly in the afternoon peak, better traffic flow through the intersections and provide safer road conditions for motorists travelling along the Pacific Highway.
