The primary multiplexer equipment is used to transport a variety of narrow bandwidth services over a long distance without degradation in signal quality. These services include, but are not limited to, operational telephones, emergency telephones, signal post telephones, ATRICS, signalling, telemetry, train radio services, and wayside condition monitoring services. The RFT is issued as part of the initiative to progressively replace transmission systems currently used in Sydney Trains.
