Tender Details
Sydney Trains is seeking a highly experienced company to join our team and provide services on site as our in-house catering firm to provide the following services:
· service delivery, operation and management of an in–house café;
· corporate catering services on an ad hoc basis; and
· the servicing of building kitchenettes including the supply and replenishment of consumables (e.g. tea bags, coffee powder, sugar, stirrers and milk),
The Contractor must manage and supply its own staff, utensils, food, equipment and materials required to carry out the above Services. Sydney Trains will supply some equipment and materials as indicated in this RFP. IMPORTANT NOTE Sydney Trains will not remunerate the Contractor’s labour costs to provide the above Services. It is Sydney Trains’ intention that Sydney Trains will remunerate the Contractor only in respect of:
· corporate catering services on an ad hoc basis only after Sydney Trains considers and approves the catering quote provided by the Contractor; and
· the wholesale price of kitchenette/sundry items purchased by the Contractor for replenishing and servicing the kitchenettes in the office tower. Such costs are to be charged to Sydney Trains on a pass through basis only with no mark up.
The Sydney Trains Engineering & Maintenance Hub at Clyde (Clyde Hub) in Sydney’s western suburbs is intended to operate as a work environment for in excess of 1,100 Sydney Trains staff.
The Contractor will have the opportunity to sell its food and beverage products to Sydney Trains staff (each staff member will have the discretion to purchase the products offered and Sydney Trains will not in any way compel its staff to purchase food and beverages from the in house café). Sydney Trains’ understanding is that the Clyde Hub will be geographically located in an area that is remote from other food and beverage service providers. The Contractor will be provided (by way of lease) the premises to operate the in house café, a kitchen, fittings, fixtures, equipment as prescribed later within this document. The performance and commercial profitability of the Contractor will be dependent on the Contractor’s ability to run their own business within the premises. It will be the Contractor’s responsibility to provide a variety of product offerings of a superior quality at reasonable price points to ensure the success of the Contractor’s services.
Due to open in 2017, the Clyde Hub will offer:
· approximately 1,100 – 1,500 staff on site at full capacity (note: staff numbers will vary as Sydney Trains offers flexible working conditions (i.e. agile working) and staff will move progressively to the Clyde Hub on a staged basis);
· café/dining area seating of up to approximately 100 - 120 pax;
· conference facilities in the office building; and
· a kitchen and café which will be leased to the Contractor (please see Appendices A and B for plans of the café and kitchen).
