Work under this engagement will include the detailed design and all relevant construction drawings, specification, schedules and tender documentation to allow the radial gates at Wyangala Dam spillway to be raised to a new fully raised position and locked them in place during the course of extreme flood, and return to their normal operating function after the flood has passed.  The detailed design shall be based on the detailed concept design developed  by MWH in its Design Report titled ‘Wyangala Dam Flood Security Upgrade Detailed Concept Design for Gate Raising and Locking System Contract No. 4044, December 2009’.

The gate locking mechanism developed by MWH uses brake calipers to lock the gate into the new fully raised position. 

No other locking system will be considered in the detailed design.
