Tender Details

The Safe Aboriginal Youth (SAY) Program was established in 2009 after a review of the former Aboriginal Community Patrols program.

The NSW Department of Justice and Attorney General will manage and support 11 Safe Aboriginal Youth Patrol Programs across NSW, located in the metropolitan, regional and remote communities.

The SAY Activity model is a community-based service that provides supervised recreational and structured activities as well as access to food for young people. The program aims to reduce the risk of young people becoming victims or persons of interest in relation to crime by providing a safe and supervised environment that has structured activities young people.

Funding will be provided for the program to operate on a Friday and Saturday night for an average of 12 hours per week. Additional funds are provided to cover peak periods including school holidays plus start up and operational costs, the program will be based in Wilcannia.
