NSW Department of Communities and Justice / Target Earlier Intervention - Strengthening Nambucca Valley Youth and Families - DCJ2024002

The Department undertook a detailed stakeholder engagement project to understand key social and community factors within the Nambucca Valley LGA.  The project identified the target cohort as young parents and young people generally, particularly those with known vulnerabilities or identified risk factors known to be predictive of poor long-term outcomes.

Given the large proportion of Aboriginal people in the Nambucca Valley and the high level of disadvantage and significant need in the area, a targeted response delivered by an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) is considered as the most appropriate service delivery model for both contracts:

• Contract 1: Strengthening Nambucca Valley Youth
• Contract 2: Strengthening Nambucca Valley Families

The planned commencement date for both contracts is 2 April 2024 for implementation, with service delivery from 1 July 2024.  Both contracts end on 30 June 2025 as funding is not committed beyond this period, subject to the pending TEI recommissioning process.
