NSW Department of Communities and Justice / Transfer NSW Community Housing Standards and Accreditation Services to Non Government Provider - CTS 8411/2007/0001

The Office of Community Housing (OCH) proposes to transfer the delivery responsibility of the NSW Community Housing Standards and Accreditation System (the System) to a non government service provider in 2008. This change is to implement a separation of the role of OCH and the community housing sector in relation to the ongoing operational responsibility of the System. OCH regulates the community housing sector that delivers housing services on behalf of government. Whereas the role of the community housing sector is to maintain a quality assurance system to improving business practices within their organisations. Currently OCH is administratively operating both registration and accreditation systems. Registration is a regulatory role and accreditation is a quality assurance role. This is a duplication of roles for OCH and the separation is warranted in the context of OCH consolidating its regulatory role in implementing the Regulatory Code in late 2008.
