Tender Details

The main aim of the Audit of Disability Research is to develop a comprehensive picture of the current state of disability research evidence. It is expected that the Audit of Disability Research will explore and determine the gaps in disability research evidence so that areas that have not been well resourced previously or where there has been little research to date can be targeted.

Information generated from the Audit of Disability Research will inform and assist the Disability Policy and Research Working Group (DPRWG) in making decisions about research projects and initiatives to be funded through the National Disability Research and Development Agenda (the Agenda). The Audit of Disability Research will also capture how existing and current research and evaluations can assist in preparing for the foundations of a national disability insurance scheme.

To develop a comprehensive overview of disability research in Australia the audit will include but is not limited to:

•Identifying a research method and framework

•Conducting a literature review

•Mapping research and evaluation initiatives by Commonwealth, State and Territory governments, Non-Government Organisation (NGOs) sectors and Universities in Australia.

•Identifying gaps in disability research and ascertain research challenges for improvement.

•Including social rather than medical research. It is understood that clinical research can have a significant impact on the wellbeing of people with a disability.
