Tender Details

The objective of the project is to achieve a reduction in the rates of homelessness and a reduction in rates of re-offending for the Client group.  Eligible clients are people at risk of homelessness exiting Broken Hill and/ or Wellington Correctional Centres who intend to reside in the Far West region of NSW.  They will be offenders released from a custodial sentence under parole supervision who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness.  Clients who intend to reside in the Broken Hill area will be selected as part of the first phase. In the second phase other post release locations such as the Dubbo area or Dareton will be.

While Aboriginality is not a specific criterion for eligibility for this project, it is anticipated that a high proportion of the target group will be Aboriginal, given the high representation of Aboriginal prisoners in each of the participating Correctional Centres.

To be successful, the project will need to be based on the development of strong inter-agency partnerships.  The Contractor will take the lead role in the case planning process.  All relevant agencies and the Client will also participate in the case planning process and implementation.  The intention of the project is to have Clients supported in permanent accommodation to a point where they can independently maintain that housing and meet their needs in the community
