NSW Department of Communities and Justice / Design Develop and Construction (as Managing Contractor)of Refurbishments & Relocations at Downing Centre & John Maddison Tower - AGD 2009/25

The work involves strip-out of existing office areas and refitting with new and recycled workstations for a number of departments including the Dust Diseases Tribunal, the Courts and Tribunal Services, NSW Trustee & Guardian and space for the building management staff.

Areas affected are Downing Centre, Levels 1 and 2, and John Maddison Tower Levels Ground and 12.

It is proposed to engage a specialist interior fitout contractor to carry out the works under a Managing Contractor agreement.

Floor layouts have been prepared by AGD Asset Management Branch and these will be provided to the contractor in digital form along with existing floor plans. The contractor will be required to produce construction documents and tender all sub-trades with a contract value greater than $20,000.

The program is intended to commence in December 2009 and be completed by April 2010.

The Contractor is to coordinate all works with the Building Management Office.

The scope comprises the following works:

 

 

1. Reconfigure the old Federal Court Registry for the Dust Diseases Tribunal (DDT) in John Maddison Tower (JMT)

 

 

2. Fit out the old café area on the Ground Floor of JMT and relocate the Building Management Office (BMO)

 

 

3. Fit out the old BMO and Robing Room on Downing Centre Level 1and relocate the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from Level 2

 

 

4. Reconfigure Courts &Tribunal Services (C&TS) and old DPP on DC Level 2

 

 

5. Fit out of DC Level 2 adjacent to existing C&TS area and relocate NSWT&G from York Street. Note that the costs of all works to accommodate the NSWT&G are to be identified separately.

 

 

6. Provide space for Domestic Violence Support and Magistrates Early Referral into Treatment (MERIT) on DC Level 1

 

 

7. Relocate Local Court Arbitration rooms from DC1 to JM Level 12; no fitout works required (minor works adjacent to counter area required)

 

 

8. Fit out DC Level 1 for JusticeLink project team and the Business Services Group.

 

 

9. Relocate JusticeLink team from JMT 10 and 11 to DC1.
