Tender Details

The Safe Aboriginal Youth (SAY) Program was established in 2009 after a review of the former Aboriginal Community Patrols program.

The NSW Department of Justice and Attorney General will manage and support 11 Safe Aboriginal Youth Patrol Programs across NSW, located in the metropolitan, regional and remote communities.

The SAY Patrol model is a community-based service that operates a safe transport and outreach service for young people who are on the streets late at night. Patrols involve skilled workers who staff a bus, patrolling the community at night and engaging with young Aboriginal people.

Funding will be provided for the program to operate on a Friday and Saturday night for an average of 8 hours per week. Additional funds are provided to cover peak periods including school holidays plus start up and operational costs, the program will be based in Newcastle.
