Customer Service / Home Warranty Insurance - Provision of Actuarial Services - 0700760

Provision of actuarial services to the Office of Fair Trading in relation to the operation of the home warranty insurance scheme (established under the Home Building Act 1989) in NSW.

Actuarial analysis of data provided by insurers to enable full understanding of the outworkings of the home warranty insurance scheme and of trends in experience over time. More specifically analyses/comments will be required with respect to:

• Measures of exposure (e.g. turnover, project certificates, premiums)
  
• Claims experience to date
• Variations between insurers

It is envisaged that deliverables will comprise:

• An initial report based on data to dd/mm/yy which discusses the analyses undertaken and their appropriateness in the monitoring of the operation of the scheme. It will include details of the analyses together with comments and interpretation thereon
  
• Corresponding reports as at the end of each subsequent quarter
• Commentary to accompany the intended public release on a quarterly basis of information on the operation of scheme based on data received from insurers
• Additional analyses and advice as requested by the Board from time to time

At this stage a projection of ultimate claims experience may not be feasible. However where possible the actuary should be prepared to offer views on the expected ultimate profitability of the business written.

Competitive bids called from a standing offer (panel / period) contracts would also use this type.
