Tender Details

The Schools Spectacular is the highest profile performing arts event for the NSW Department of Education and this year celebrates its 41st year.

More than 5,500 students from 400 schools across the state will take part in the show. This world-class production is one of the largest events of its calibre anywhere in the world. The event is held at Qudos Bank Arena at Sydney Olympic Park. Many high-profile artists in the Australian and International music industry owe their performing roots and the development of their skills to the NSW Schools Spectacular.

 Each year over 25,000 tickets are sold to the event, and previous broadcasts have ranked highly in their Saturday evening timeslot, winning the timeslot in 2023. 

Immediate intention is to grant broadcast rights for the 2024, 2025 and 2026 Events. Further options or a longer term is negotiable.

The Arts Unit will contract production company to film and produce Program of Event and will retain all copyright in program. Program will be 2.5 commercial hours, edited to broadcast standard, with commercial breaks as required by Broadcaster.

The Arts Unit will consult with Broadcaster in relation to production of Event and Program, but will retain final control over all creative and production matters. Program to be delivered in accordance with standard technical specifications of Broadcaster. Will be G or PG classification.

Open Tenders - An invitation to tender by public advertisement with no restriction placed on who may tender. Tenderers will normally be required to demonstrate in their tender that they have the necessary skills, resources, experience, financial capacity, and in some cases licences, accreditations, etc., to fulfil the tender requirements.

Additional Details / Instructions

Contract is in place with current production company, Gravity Media, for the 2024 Event. Willing to negotiate provision of facilities and production services as component of broadcast fee for 2025 Event.

The event is held at Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park. The Deaprtment will supply the broadcaster the program in the format required for the broadcast to occur from the broadcaster's facilities.

Conditions for Participation

Entire Program of Event must be broadcast without editing. Premiere broadcast must take place on Broadcasters primary channel 1-2 weeks after the Event. Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening time-slot is preferred but is negotiable. Broadcast times may be subject to pre-emption for events of national significance.

The broadcaster must be willing to meet the needs of the tender including the ability to promote sponsors of the event through in broadcast advertising , end cards and billboards in and out of commercial break.

The Arts Unit is seeking offers from potential Broadcasters which may comprise cash, a percentage of advertising sales or a combination.  The ability to promote event sponsors through in broadcast advertising, end cards or billboard playins and outs to breaks is essential.

The Arts Unit is willing to work with Broadcaster to maximise revenue by offering sponsorship packages including signage, in-program advertising, live screens at Event, and commercial spots

Sponsors and content to be mutually agreed, and to comply with Department of Education guidelines.

 

 

Estimated Timeframe for Delivery

Premiere broadcast must take place on Broadcasters primary channel 1-2 weeks after the Event. The Arts Unit will work with the broadcaster on a suitable timeframe for delivery.
