Tender Details
The scope of work for the Lighting Designer / Director is to:
- Design a lighting system to suit the needs of the arena production, the subsequent television broadcast and the budget available.
- Participate in discussions regarding the overall design of the production.
- Provide CAD drawings of the lighting design to the technical production team and Department.
- Develop specifications in conjunction with the technical production team, to send to potential suppliers for quotation purposes.
- Provide expert knowledge and guidance in the negotiations with the lighting equipment supplier.
- Attend pre-production meetings and briefings as required.
- Meet with choreographers and segment directors, in certain cases, to become familiar with the specific lighting requirements and effects for specific segments.
- Attend the preliminary combined rehearsal held at the arena approximately four weeks prior to show week.
- Be across all aspects of the bump in and installation of the lighting system at the live venue.
- Coordinate the previsualization of the lighting of the show.
- Supply and coordinate spot caller and board operator.
- Liaise with creative team and screen graphics contractor regarding the creation of custom graphics and selection of stock imagery as required.
- Supervise the lighting team during production week, lighting focuses, plots, technical checks and final rehearsals.
- Fulfil the role of the lighting designer/director for final rehearsals and performances.
- Liaise and interface with the lighting director for the television broadcast production.
- Facilitate the incorporation of VET students into Lighting Teams for quality experiences with suitably qualified personnel
- Attend post event evaluation.
- Perform other related duties as required
