The YDAC Program is aimed at reducing offending and drug use amongst a specific group of young people who have become entrenched in criminal behaviour.
Participants are both male and female, aged between 14 18.Many participants have a range of associated concerns such as; poor educational achievement, dysfunctional family and social backgrounds and psychological problems.
The program aims to improve offending rates by addressing these difficulties.The Residential Induction Unit (RIU), located in Liverpool, NSW, is a vital component of the YDAC program. The RIU offers initial intensive support to participants for a period of two to four weeks to stabilise them, introduce them to the program and program activities.
Most participants will enter the RIU after a period in custody however participants may also reside at the RIU after the induction phase for periods of stabilisation, support, review and assessment.The RIU houses up to six participants (both males and females) and offers 24 hour care, seven days a week.
The current contract with the existing Non Government Organisation (NGO) managing the RIU will expire on the 30th September 2007. Justice Health is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from NGOs to manage the RIU from the 1st October 2007 to 30th June 2008 with a view to renewing the contract at that date.
Handover arrangements in the weeks preceding 1st October 2007 will need to be established.The successful applicant will be responsible for the operational management of the RIU and the provision of related service to participants of the YDAC.
