Tender Details

The NSW Dementia Services Framework 2010-2015 (the Framework) was released jointly by NSW Health in partnership with Ageing, Disability and Home Care in 2010 to set the direction for providing quality dementia care in NSW. Strengthening access to skilled dementia health experts to improve assessment, diagnosis and management was identified as a key priority of the Framework.

Under the Framework, eight full time equivalent (FTE) CDCNC positions are to be recruited within eight of the fifteen Local Health Districts during the first half of 2011. The additional positions will build on a limited base of approximately seven FTE, of existing CDCNCs. The CDCNCs are anticipated to improve outcomes for people with dementia, their families and carers through leadership, clinical advice, consultation, education and support of other professionals in the provision of evidence based dementia care.

Funding will be provided to a suitably qualified organisation with expertise in dementia and/or health service program evaluation for a period of two years to; measure the activity of the CDCNC positions in improving dementia diagnosis, assessment and clinical management, measure the effectiveness of the activity of the positions, analyse the impact of the location and governance structures of the CDCNCs on their effectiveness, describe the service configurations in which the positions operate; and assess the impact of the service configurations in which the positions operate.
