CONTRACT HARVESTING AND HAULAGE TUMUT AND MOSS VALE SOUTHERN NSW - DII/FNSW1009

FNSW is the registered business name of the Forestry Commission of New South Wales and is a Government trading enterprise. 

 

FNSW is the largest softwood plantation forest owner in Australia with more than 200,000 ha of softwood plantation across the State of NSW supplying more than 3 million tonnes of log products per year. More than 90% of FNSW log sales are to domestic forest product manufacturers under long term sales contracts of between 5 and 20 years.

 

FNSW has over 10 years of managing forest logistics and engages over 40 harvest and haulage contractors in the plantation sector.

 

Figure One illustrates the traditional stability in the FNSW softwood plantation log sales market. While historical sales are no guarantee of future demand, it should be noted that the Southern NSW market has historically been more stable than many other domestic and international log markets.

The Parcels are located in the following locations:

 

• Tumut – 92,000 ha which supplies approximately 1,600,00 tonnes per annum (refer to map of Hume Region in Attachment 1); and

 

• Moss Vale – 3,500 ha which supplies approximately 45,000 tonnes per annum (refer to map in Attachment 2)

 

As a result of the tendering process, FNSW is seeking to develop a contract harvesting and distribution system which can deliver log products within a flexible and responsive operating environment to ensure that customers’ orders are met in full, on time and within specification.

Expression of Interest For Pre-Qualification - An invitation for Expression of Interest (EOI) for pre-registration of prospective tenderers for a type of work or service. Applicants are initially evaluated against published selection criteria. RFT may then be invited from a panel of providers (as Selective, or Invited).
