PREAMBLE

PREAMBLE

Rail Corporation New South Wales (RailCorp) is seeking tenders to carry out sandstone repair and restoration of at Central Station, Sydney.

 

As part of the ongoing maintenance of the Sydney Terminal Building it has been identified that various facades of the building are deteriorating and therefore in need of restoration. During the financial year 2007-08, it is proposed to carry out repair and restoration of some or all of the nominated zones such as Zones R, XA, XB, XC, V-Shop, V-Ramp, W-Shop, W-Ramp and Z. In broad terms the scope of works will consist of:-

 

 

§         Supply and Manufacture of new sandstone units,

§         Repair work of existing sandstone units including hairline indents and synthetic repairs,

§         Desalination, lead work and cleaning.

 

Tender is split into seven Separable Part 1 to 7  respectively each for Zone R, Zone V-Shop, Zone W-Shop, Zones XA,XB and XC, Zone V-Ramp, Zone W-Ramp and Zone Z.

 

 

Tenderer to note:

 

§         RailCorp may award separate contracts for one or more Separable Parts to one or more Tenderers.

§         Tender for Separable Part 1(Zone R) and Separable Part 2 (Zone V-Shop) shall be valid for 90 days from the closing date of tender.

§         Tender for Separable Parts 3 to 7 shall be valid for 180 days from the closing date of tender.

§         RailCorp at its discretion may or may not proceed with the work in selected Separable Part/s.

 

 

This Preamble is in summary form only for the convenience of Tenderers and must not be relied upon by the Tenderers. It is subject to the detailed requirements in Parts A-E of this Tender Document (the "RFT").  Without limitation, the proposed scope of work outlined in the RFT may be subject to amendment in accordance with Addenda issued under clause A14 of the Conditions of Pre-Registration.

Pre-Qualified / Invited - Only those directly invited to tender, may obtain an RFT for the purpose of lodging a tender response. Generally an invitation from a pre-qualified register of approved tenderers who have the ability to undertake the particular work or type of work proposed, a limited number of service providers are known to carry out the work or service (or in emergency or other restricted situations). Tenderers have usually been pre-qualified, accredited, or selected for the type of work and financial range. Competitive bids called from a standing offer (panel / period) contracts would also use this type.
