RailCorp are currently reviewing initiatives to move towards reliability centred maintenance, rather than corrective maintenance, leveraging off the advances and improvement in technology available for real-time monitoring of assets and the environment that the assets are operating within. There is a need to provide a consolidated view of the condition and functionality of Infrastructure and train condition monitoring Assets, which are critical for the on time running of trains. In meeting this need, RailCorp staff monitoring the infrastructure systems will be able to view the condition of the Infrastructure and train condition monitoring assets and respond to problems in a timely manner. This will also enable the proactive management of Infrastructure and train condition monitoring Assets to minimise operational impact and impact to the end user of RailCorp services.
The purpose of this project is:-
1. To review existing train condition monitoring systems and develop a train conditioning monitoring strategy – Part A.
2. To determine the functional and technical requirements for an infrastructure condition monitoring system and develop an infrastructure condition monitoring strategy– Part B.
