As part of its function, RailCorp owns and operates an electrical distribution network as an exempt distribution network service provider under the National Electricity Code.  The electricity distribution network broadly spans the area of the RailCorp region, that is, the Sydney rail network to Newcastle in the north, Lithgow in the west, Macarthur in the south-west and Nowra in the south.
