TransGrid / Helicopter Inspections on Transmission Lines - Q133/13

This specification covers the wet hire of a suitable helicopter, qualified pilot and ground support staff to conduct aerial inspections on the Principal’s transmission lines, within the state of NSW for Central, Northern and Southern Regions as per Schedule 1.  Refer to Attachment 3 for maps of the Principal's high voltage network and Attachment 4 for specific lines to be inspected.

 

Work under this Contract requires:-

 

1.   Low level flights along transmission lines to monitor vegetation growth beneath and to the side of the conductors to record locations that breach safe clearances.

 

2.   During the flight, also inspect transmission line hardware components and record defects.

 

The Principal will provide suitably trained staff to monitor and record defects found during inspections.

 

All work performed is to be in accordance with:-

 

·      ESAA NENS 08 – 2006:  National Guidelines For Aerial Surveillance of Overhead Electricity Networks;

 

·       GM AS L1 006:  Aerial Surveillance of Transmission Lines (TransGrid – Attachment 1);

 

GM AS L3 004:  Performing Transmission Line Aerial Patrols and Aerial Inspections (TransGrid – Attachment 2).
