Tender Details

The works are to be undertaken within the Transgrid tunnel between St Peters (corner of Euston Road and Sydney Park Road) and the Haymarket Substation (eastern end of Mary Ann Street).  The works covered by these technical specifications comprises the following activities grouped into Phase 1 and 2.

PHASE 1

·                     Survey of the concrete pavement and the cable box along the tunnel

·                     Excavation of two cable joint bays

·                     Supply and installation of glass reinforced plastic (GRP) rock bolts and stainless steel mesh to the two cable joint bays

·                     Supply and application of a sprayed membrane on the tunnel walls and crown:

(i)             in selected areas to control the inflow of groundwater by directing it to floor drains

(ii)            in the two cable joint bays to

a.            inhibit weathering of bedding and joint seams so as to prevent degradation of the rock

b.            prevent the fallout of small pieces of sandstone

c.            direct groundwater to the floor drains

·                     Excavation and construction of floor drainage in the tunnel near to the Australian Technology Park (ATP) shaft.

·                     Connection to existing floor drainage

The locations of the work are shown in the Drawings.  The final locations will be marked on the tunnel by the Principal’s representative two weeks prior to commencement of work but these locations may change slightly during the course of the work.

PHASE 2

·                     The supply and construction of the plumbing connections to the existing sub-floor drain and associated floor grates.

·                     The supply and construction of the final concrete pavement and associated surface drains

Open Tenders - An invitation to tender by public advertisement with no restriction placed on who may tender. Tenderers will normally be required to demonstrate in their tender that they have the necessary skills, resources, experience, financial capacity, and in some cases licences, accreditations, etc., to fulfil the tender requirements.

Mandatory Site Inspection

All Tenderers must attend a mandatory site inspection on Thursday 8th December 2011 at 9am to fully acquaint themselves with conditions affecting the works. The meeting will be held at the Transgrids’ Haymarket 330kV/132kV Substation office which is located at 180 Thomas Street Haymarket (opposite the Citigate Central Hotel). The meeting will be followed by an inspection of the tunnel by entering at the Mary Ann St Access Shaft.

All parties interested in attending the tender meeting are to notify the Principal's Site Representative Mr Stephen Bell by telephone on (02) 8204 6393 or via email Stephen.bell@transgrid.com.au at least 48 hours prior to the site inspection.

Tenders which do not comply with all of the mandatory requirements will not be considered.

 

Mandatory Requirements

(a)       Tenders must be for the whole of the works specified and include for the performance of all obligations set out in the Specification. Tenders for only part of the work will not be considered.

(b)       Tenderers must have recent relevant experience in the supply and installation of GRP bolts, steel mesh and the application of techflex or similar elastomeric membranes used in tunnelling and/or mining works. Tenderers must have undertaken similar works in the last 5 years.  Documentation providing evidence of experience in these matters is to be submitted with the Tender in Schedule 2 or appended to Schedule 2.

(c)       The tender price submitted must be FIRM (i.e. not subject to adjustment for variations in cost) for the period of the contract.

(d)       All tenderers must attend a mandatory site inspection as per Clause 7.3 Mandatory Site Inspection.
