Tender Details

Taronga Western Plains Zoo has an existing fleet of 24 electric carts which have proved to be a popular, and more environmentally friendly, alternative to visitors using their own vehicles along the 6km Zoo circuit.

The electric cart hire charges help cover the cost of the vehicles but also contribute directly to the Principal’s main areas of work:-

  • Research projects for the conservation and management of species
  • Breeding programs for the preservation of threatened species
  • Education, awareness and behaviour change to support species conservation and habitat preservation
  • Presentation of animals for environmental, education and recreation purposes

Taronga Western Plains Zoo seek to increase their electric cart fleet by an additional 20 vehicles of a similar, if not the same, look and feel as the existing fleet.

The electric carts must be energy efficient, and must be certified road worthy and for public use in a public venue, on and off road.

The Supplier must consider the wide variety of potential users, which will include but not be limited to, infants; children; teenagers; adults; older people. Electric carts that have access for a range of disabilities would be preferable, however, it will be at the discretion of the hirer to determine whether the vehicle is suitable for their intended passengers.

The Principal has determined the number of vehicles required is 20, which has been estimated based on the budget available and space required for dedicated parking space for the vehicles.

The contract period reflects the scope of this contract which includes, but is not limited to, the production, supply, installation, testing and post-sale support of the 20 electric carts.  However, the contract period is up to 5 years from the date of contract signing so that should any further electric carts be required during the 5 year period, these may be purchased from the same Supplier.

Any further purchases may be for either Taronga in Sydney or Taronga Western Plains Zoo and are subject to budget availability; a replacement cart being required within the existing fleet; value for money and satisfactory performance of the supplier i.e. there is no guarantee of any further orders beyond the initial 20 electric carts.

The electric carts are required to:

  • accommodate a minimum 6 passengers seated capacity;

Please note – 10 electric carts are to be decaled the same as our current fleet (black and white strips) and 10 electric carts themed to promote Zoofari Lodge.
  • The new design will be a vinyl digital wrap front and back of each electric cart.  The following options are preferred, however, if there is an additional cost for the preferred options these must be detailed separate in the Price Schedule:-
