Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water / Investigation & Design for the Upgrading of the Lord Howe Island Airport Runway & Drainage System - LHIB 2014/12

The Consultant will be required to prepare  Review of Environmental Factors (REF), review the existing reports relating to flood events and their effects on the airport and surrounding areas; review the stormwater management concept design prepared by Storm Consulting in 2010; review the engineering survey; carry out a Geotechnical investigation of the airport runway pavement and subgrade and the surrounding areas; undertake the design of a system to manage groundwater and stormwater runoff on and adjacent to the airport; provide a design for surface and subsoil drainage within the airport runway area including taxi ways, thresholds etc with emphasis on prevention of the “bubbling” and/or lifting of the runway pavement sealing; provide a pavement design of the runway to satisfy the stormwater runoff issues and one suitable to accept the loading of the nominated aircraft; provide a design report which clearly demonstrates in tabular form how the design work meets this specification and the requirements of the relevant Australian Standards, QantasLink, CASA and Air Services Australia.
