Parts of New South Wales have been severely impacted by multiple flooding and storms events in 2021 and 2022. These natural disaster events have generated significant amounts of flood debris in affected areas.
Following the completion of the hydrographic survey program, which used sonar to identify submerged debris in flood impacted waterways, the NSW EPA is now moving into a maintenance program to deal with waste that has been identified for removal and is submerged.
The surveys identified various large and hazardous debris such as car chassis, large trees, tyres and other miscellaneous wastes for removal. Specific tonnages or the number of items requiring removal is currently being confirmed through further investigations. This information will be made available to successful Tenderer(s) throughout the contract term to allow for accurate costings for each task.
