The Consultancy is to plan, implement and document a range of design consultancy services including but not limited to architectural design, engineering design, landscape architecture, security strategy, graphic design, and exhibit interpretation design, for the project to refurbish the Chimpanzee Exhibit at Taronga Zoo Mosman.

The project site is the existing Chimpanzee Exhibit and immediate surrounds at Taronga Zoo, Bradleys Head Road, Mosman, NSW. The site encompasses the existing exhibit paddock & moat; perimeter wall; night house building; wet weather den & wet weather viewing area; site services, roads and associated infrastructure; pathways, gardens and visitor viewing areas within and immediately surrounding the exhibit.

The chimpanzee group will remain within the existing exhibit and night house facilities during construction. The Consultant must ensure the design provides for the construction of the refurbishment works to be carried out while ensuring continuous contained occupation by the chimpanzees within the existing exhibit boundaries. Planning, design and construction should take into account the procedures for entry to animal exhibits or holding areas for maintenance and construction works.

The Consultant is required to engage a specialist consultant who has international experience with major accredited zoos. The accreditation process is applied to members by major zoo associations for example (but not limited to), AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums, US) and EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquaria).
