The Landforms and Rehabilitation Team (LRT) are directly responsible for the rehabilitation of the Former Snowy Scheme Sites and has a team of specialist staff based at Tumut which plans, manages and directs an annual rehabilitation program based on the requirements of the Major Sites Management Deed signed by NPWS and Snowy Hydro Limited in 2002.
A contractor is required because the planting and maintenance of the Former Snowy Scheme is located on a range of locations within Kosciuszko National Park (KNP). There is significant variation in the extent of works, ground conditions and topography at each location. Locations include high altitude sites with extreme weather conditions, steep slopes and working in spoil material which is predominantly shattered rock that includes potentially hazardous material such as scrap metal and bonded asbestos fragments.
The Work Sites are all located within the bounds of Kosciuszko National Park (KNP), and the successful tender must demonstrate the capacity to have a crew of labourers to complete hard physical labour and use small machinery in remote and challenging environments.
