Tender Details
Taronga Zoo is looking to update its App offering to guests in order to provide a more interactive experience when visiting the zoo. This will help ensure guests get the most out of their visit but to also increase the scope for guests to engage in the onsite conservation campaigns and behaviour change activities. This will assist Taronga in achieving its vision of securing a shared future for wildlife and people and will provide post visit ‘push’ of information and interactions.
The Project will be delivered in phases over a number of years subject to satisfactory performance of the successful supplier and budget approval.
Budget for the first phase of the App development has been approved for the development of standard functionality such as:-
•Planning your visit to the zoo
•Wayfinding
•Event schedule(s)
•Animal information
•Onsite conservation campaigns
This phase will also incorporate requirements, into the App, for two new attractions that are scheduled to open at Taronga Zoo during 2016/17. These are:-
- A new theatre that will feature an 8-10 minute film to introduce guests to the wider conservation work and aspirations of Taronga Zoo. The short film aims to set guests up for their visit and in will feature a ‘call to action’ for children, asking them to join what will be known as the ‘Wild Squad’.
- Sumatran Tiger Adventure that will take guests on a journey where they will learn about the conservation issues created by unsustainable palm oil production and will finish with a local supermarket experience to learn what we, as consumers, can do to help.
The key objectives of the new App are:-
•Engage visitors pre, during and post zoo visit
•Provide opt-in to Taronga communication
•Provide visitation metrics
•Provide information to plan a zoo visit
•Allow visitors to easily find their way around the zoo
•Inform visitors about talks, shows and other events, based on the time of day and their current location
•Provide information about animals and exhibits
•Deliver conservation messaging and encourage behaviour change
•Deliver special offers and promotions
•Deliver gaming elements to engage and educate
