Tender Details
The work site is a section of undercut cliff located above the Mt Keira Ring Track, on the eastern rim of Mount Keira (Map 1).
The site is located about 10 metres below the escarpment edge. Vehicle access is available to within about 15 metres of the site, via a management road that branches off Queen Elizabeth Drive (MAP 2).
The site is forested with a shrubby understorey. Gradients below the road are steep (>60 degrees) to vertical.
The work aims to stabilise a small section of the cliff, comprising three blocks of sandstone each with a mass of about 15-20 tonnes (Figures 1 & 2), to enable a closed section of walking track below to be safely reopened. Open jointing of the blocks, undercutting of the underlying beds and the failure in 2017 of an adjacent block (Figure 3) indicate a high potential for each to fail. The affected section of walking track is closed due to public access until stabilisation work is completed
