Particulars of the goods or services to be provided under this contract

The NSW Wildlife Drone Hub is working with the Kangaroo Management Program (KMP) and The University of Sydney to develop drone survey methods of kangaroo populations across New South Wales.

A fixed-wing drone that has the capability to survey at a landscape scale with high resolution thermal and colour camera is required.

The drone will provide supplementary high quality data to the KMP and will be used to train an AI model to detect kangaroos in real time. This asset will be shared with drone pilots across the wider department that have qualifications to pilot the drone. A multipurpose system will be procured, that has the capability to detect wildlife species broadly and undertake landscape scale mapping. This will be the departments first fixed-wing drone and provides new drone capabilities and value for money for the NSW Government by bringing landscape scale drone survey capability in house.
