The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is seeking proposals for the provision of pay machines (parking machines) across national parks under a 5-year supply and service agreement.
NPWS manages 889 national parks and reserves. The primary purpose of national parks is conservation, but it is also essential that as many people as possible visit them regularly, for the many benefits that derive from spending time in nature and so they feel connected to nature and conservation causes.
The number of visits to NSW national parks is growing, with 51.6 million visits in 2016, 60 million in 2018 and 63 million expected in 2023. Currently 45 parks or reserves have vehicle entry fees requiring the facilitation of technology to pay those fees.
