Tender Details

Arboricultural Work - Corridor of Oaks, Faulconbridge.

The Corridor of Oaks is an item of national significance. It is an identified heritage item on Blue Mountains City Council’s LEP 2005. While not listed on the State Heritage Register (NSW), it has been submitted for inclusion as part of the Henry Parkes Group. Currently the status of this application is unknown.

As a memorial to the Prime Ministers of Australia, two rows of Oak trees were planted within Jackson Park.  Many of these trees were planted in person by the relevant Prime Minister. It is the only memorial to Australian Prime Ministers of this type and is largely intact.

A consultant arborist has been engaged by Council to provide advice in relation to ensuring the ongoing health of the oak trees that make up the Corridor of Oaks. The arborist has considered the health and impact of all of the trees that are located in the parcel of land at Jackson Park that houses the Corridor of Oaks. The consultant arborist recommends the removal of 13 trees along the northern boundary with the State Rail Authority Corridor. There are also 4 trees to be removed along the southern side of the park. 11 trees also require pruning. These works are designed to remove competition for soil nutrients and sunlight and encourage the growth of the oak trees.
