Tender Details

Tenders are invited from suitably qualified persons or firms for the provision of complete design documentation services to Auburn City Council for Auburn Town Centre Upgrade.

Auburn Town centre is the largest town centre in the Auburn Local Government Area. The town centre is focused around a traditional main street, Auburn Road, and Auburn Railway Station. The town centre provides a wide range of local retail, commercial and community services to the Auburn area, with most of the retail and pedestrian activity located at street level south of the railway line. The town centre is characterised by high levels of pedestrian activity.

Over the past six years, Council has undertaken a number of studies relating to different aspects of the Auburn Town Centre including:

  1. The Auburn People Place Project: A Community Cultural Consultation (2003);
  2. Auburn Town Centre Integrated Public Art and design Framework (2004);
  3. Auburn Town Centre Strategy 2031 (2009); and
  4. Auburn Town Centre Accessibility Study and Modelling Options Traffic Study (2003).

These studies were all used in the preparation of the Auburn Town Centre Public Domain Plan.

The Auburn Town Centre Public Domain Plan contains detailed design concepts as well as an implementation plan and cost estimates.

The plan seeks to build on the town centre?s attributes, including vibrant streets and atmosphere, cultural diversity, and shops/services for day to day needs. It also addresses key issues such as poor overall appearance, lack of greenery, lack of public open space, and lack of places to sit, rest and play.

Council seeks to engage a consultant team to develop full design documentation to enable the Auburn Town Centre Public Domain Plan to be tendered and constructed.
