Tender Details

Council is calling for suitable qualified Contractors to undertake the construction of the Progress Park Sports and Community Centre.

Progress Park is located on the corner of Wellington Road and Chisholm Road, Auburn.  The venue supports three sports grounds, two netball courts, three cricket wickets, as well as linking with the Duck River cycleway and Auburn Community Picnic Ground.  Access to the site is via Killeen Street, Auburn.

It is proposed that the new facility will cater for:

§ Sports clubs (predominately soccer in the winter and cricket in the summer);

§ Playgroups;

§ Sport, recreation and cultural programs;

§ A meeting area for seniors as well as recreational programs for older people; and

§ General community meeting space.

The proposed building will replace the existing amenities building, which is aged and does not meet the basic needs of the existing sportsground users.  The existing amenity building will remain in operation until completion of the 2010 winter season at the end of October.

Key elements of the design of the new centre include:

  • A large (100m2) multi-functional space
  • Fenced playground area which connects with the multi-functional space
  • Secured storage space for different users
  • New, larger,  kiosk / canteen
  • New toilets and change room facilities with showers
  • A community meeting room
  • A large undercover awning
  • Water tanks for the collection and re-use of rainwater.
