Infrastructure NSW (INSW) has considered future use options for the Barangaroo Cutaway and identified the potential for cultural artistic and commercial uses.
To achieve the potential of the Cutaway space INSW is seeking to create a memorable and grand experience through the design of a major, single, large format, flexible venue suitable for a range of significant cultural, artistic and commercial functions.
The primary facilities will be supported by appropriate back of house and ancillary facilities to allow the Cutaway to be positioned as a preferred venue for events, exhibitions, cultural uses, festivals and installations.
The objectives for the Cutaway project are to:
- Become one of Sydney’s premier cultural facilities
- Be a globally recognised venue for hosting the performing and visual arts, alongside exhibitions and events;
- Engage the local community as well as national and international visitors;
- Provide the office space and facilities necessary to manage the facility, This encompasses, front and back of house, as well as the broader Barangaroo Public Domain
- Create a design that respects and enhances the dramatic qualities of the existing structure;
- Respect and connect to the First Nations culture of the site;
- Achieve design excellence; and
- Deliver innovative sustainability outcomes.

This Tender requires any party submitting an offer to be a prequalified contractor on NSW Government Procurement Scheme 1461 Construction Works over $1M and on the Procurement List approved for Constuction $62M and over.
Note: As some elements of the EOI documents are sensitive, potential tenderers are required to complete a Confidentiality Agreement and submit it to Infrastructure NSW to receive a copy of the EOI documents. The Confidentiality Agreement is provided in eTender.
