Tender Details
Council is seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Tenderers for T13-24 Demolition of the Wran Leisure and Aquatic Centre.
As part of our ongoing commitment to make our City a thriving and attractive place to live, work and visit, Council has developed a strategic plan for the future of the Canterbury-Bankstown Leisure and Aquatic Centres.
Like most areas in Sydney, our leisure and aquatic centres were built in the 1960s and are nearing the end of their life cycle. Our residents are now looking for contemporary facilities that offer a broader range of activities to choose from.
The Leisure and Aquatic Strategic Plan was developed with extensive consultation with the local community and also considered the proximity of other facilities outside Canterbury-Bankstown’s boundaries.
The Wran Leisure and Aquatic Centre is located at Gundaroo St, Villawood, in Goondah Reserve. It had the lowest attendance of any leisure and aquatic facility in Canterbury Bankstown in 2015-16, with just 17,593 users.
The cost of bringing this facility up to standard is substantial because there are major structural issues that cannot be resolved. Given the need for a leisure and aquatic centre for use by the community appears to be low, Council has decided to decommission the site for other uses.
A full description of the nature and extent of the services required by Council are set out in Section 3 of this Request. The Wran Leisure and Aquatic Centre demolition project is scheduled to commence in early March 2024 and complete by the end of June 2024.
All Contractors are to meet in the car park of the Wran Leisure and Aquatic Centre, Gundaroo St, Villawood, NSW 2163.
