The purpose of this contract is to provide an Early Works Package (Stage One) in preparation for a larger contract to develop this part of the James Fletcher Hospital site.

The works include the careful demolition of the existing Toilet Block that forms part of the Breezeway. This will allow for a wider Breezeway to access this portion of the site. Other associated works have been included in this contract as part of the repairs and structural support to the Breezeway area, including the relocation of hydraulic services and the installation of new external lighting.

The James Fletcher Hospital site is listed as an item of State heritage significance in the Newcastle City Council's Local Environmental Plan. Care will need to be taken when operating machinery that could mechanically damage the heritage fabric of the structures to be preserved.
