Tender Details

Global clinical trials industry has potential for considerable growth in the future. NSW currently secures approximately 25% of trials in Australia.

The NSW Office for Science and Medical Research, Department of State & Regional Development, wishes to better position NSW as a leader in the Asia-Pacific region and as such seeks a Sponsor.

In order to fulfil its obligations under the Funding Agreement the Sponsor shall:
(1) recruit and employ for the two-year period of the Agreement:
(i) a Chief Executive Officer (full-time),
(ii) An Administrative Assistant to the CEO to meet the demands of the Centre;
(iii) a Communications Manager, (proposed part-time, approximately three days a week);

(2) recruit and employ temporary project office staff, as and when needed;
(3) provide an electronic portal and information and co-ordination services for investors, service providers and other stakeholders;
(4) provide brokerage services, with an initial focus on Japan, China and India;
(5) develop promotional materials for distribution by the Centre;
(6) consult the stakeholders and provide advice on strategies to address more complex sectoral issues (e.g. improving patient recruitment timeframes and participation rates; addressing the shortage of and lack of career paths for trial managers); and
(7) participate in a review of the Centre, approximately 18 months after the establishment of the Centre, to inform forward directions and possible future investment.

Prospective tenderers are initially evaluated for their proposal against the relevant selection criteria. A number of those who best meet the criteria are invited to tender. For complex or some other types of procurement, where the product or service outcomes are highly dependent on the content of the proposals received from Tenderers, the outcome may be negotiated.
