Recent advancements in technology have increasingly played an important role in positively impacting the lives of people with disability. The exploration of haptic vibrations and the potential they have to provide a universal language for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing has resulted in new inventions, in particular wearable items embedded with haptic technology.
Sydney Opera House is seeking expressions of interest for wearable haptic technology to utilise in venues by Deaf and Hard of Hearing community and to be one of the first organisations in Australia to break down these barriers and explore new ways of sharing live music in a universal language. In addition to the wearable haptic technology, Sydney Opera House seeks to assess capability and capacity of installation and ongoing support. Purchase and rental arrangements will be considered.
The purpose of the EOI is to:
Develop SOHT’s understanding of the capability and capacity of the market to meet the requirements;
Further develop SOHT’s requirements, if required;
Inform a business case; and
Identify a shortlist of suitable organisations that maybe invited to tender for the provision of the goods and services should the business case be approved.
