This project is to develop an approach for councils to identify social cohesion actions that build on strengths and address gaps for disaster risk reduction as part of the broader DAP development work.

 

The DAP Guidelines and Framework will include a process to support councils to: 

  1. Understand which social assets and activities reduce disaster risk.
  2. Identifysocial assets(within and outside of council) at the local government level(or region, in the case of multi-LGA DAPs) through a template/tool. 
  3. Identifyand document all the activities or services that communityorganisationsprovide (strengths and opportunities). 
  4. Identifygaps and vulnerabilitiesin social assets including identifying community members or groups who are less connected or for whom greater disaster risk exists.  
  5. Identify social cohesion actions to build on local strengths and address gaps.
