Secondary to the turnout system is the public address system installed in each station and used to alert the crews manning the stations to prepare for a call-out to an incident and provide details.

The public address system is also used to advise the crew of incoming telephone calls, for paging personnel within the station, and to enable visitors to the station to request access through the secured door entry points to the station building.

FRNSW currently operates 340 fire stations that will all receive upgrades to the Fire Station Public Address Systems currently installed over the next two years.
