Supply of 200 Rigid Buses - STA 2010/01

Consistent with State Transits operational contracts, periodic fleet replacement is required to achieve a maximum average fleet age of 12 years. To meet the fleet replacement strategy requirement State Transit requires the supply of 200 12.5m rigid buses for delivery by June 2013 at a rate of 100 buses per year.

The invitation to tender covers the design, manufacture and supply of these buses, which will be operated by State Transit across Sydney. The Buses may be powered by diesel or compressed natural gas ("CNG"). Other alternative fuels may be utilised provided that the financial, safety, performance and operational requirements of State Transit are met.

The Buses will be fully air-conditioned, low floor wheelchair accessible and of a type that will meet the operational, performance, quality, environmental, corrosion protection and aesthetic requirements specified in the Invitation to Tender. Special attention will be given to passenger comfort and safety, specifically in the areas of handrail layout, seat design, seat layout and passenger access.
