This RFT is for the upgrade (comprising both detailed design and construction) of the fire sprinkler system provided within Mitchell basement and basement mezzanine stack areas, for the State Library of NSW (the Principal). State Library of NSW, Macquarie Street SYDNEY NSW 2000. 

The purpose of the upgrade is to address non-compliances that have been identified with the current sprinkler design, and to completely replace the existing pipework, which has been identified as being corroded and at the end of its serviceable life.

This Statement of Requirement also includes options (in favour of the Principal) to rectify non-complying sprinkler coverage that has been identified in the following locations: 

a.  Option 1 - Macquarie Stacks Level S1;
b. Option 2 - Macquarie Stacks Level S2;
c. Option 3 - Macquarie Stacks Level S3;
d. Option 4 - Macquarie Stacks Level S4;
e. Option 5 - Macquarie Stacks Level S5;
f. Option 6 - Old Mitchell Stacks Basement;
g. Option 7 - Old Mitchell Stacks Basement Mezzanine; and
h. Option 8 - Mitchell Manuscript Stacks. 

The upgrade shall comply with the Building Code of Australia 2010 and Australian Standard 2118 - Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems.

Pre-Qualified / Invited - Only those directly invited to tender, may obtain an RFT for the purpose of lodging a tender response. Generally an invitation from a pre-qualified register of approved tenderers who have the ability to undertake the particular work or type of work proposed, a limited number of service providers are known to carry out the work or service (or in emergency or other restricted situations). Tenderers have usually been pre-qualified, accredited, or selected for the type of work and financial range. Competitive bids called from a standing offer (panel / period) contracts would also use this type.

A mandatory tenderer briefing and site inspection is proposed for Thursday 20/1.
Confirmation of this date will be issued in a subsequent communication to the invited tenderers.
