Tender Details

The Office of Responsible Gambling is seeking to engage an organisation with extensive peer support knowledge and experience to deliver a statewide peer support service that builds the capacity of GambleAware providers to deliver safe and effective peer support for people experiencing gambling harm across NSW.

Peer support offers a non-clinical option for people seeking help to address gambling harm. It is a key component of the stepped care approach of the GambleAware treatment and support model.

The Statewide Peer Support Service (the Service) will utilise its extensive peer support knowledge and experience to continually develop organisational capacity for safe, effective peer support services, focusing on capacity of peer support workers, management and broader organisational capacity of each GambleAware Provider across NSW.

The Service will be required to deliver the following key functions:

• Providing expert input to support the recruitment and retention of peer support workers.

• Utilising the peer support capacity assessment template to audit and benchmark each provider’s current peer support capacity.

• Developing peer support resources for providers informed by audit findings.

• Ensuring providers have a foundational level of peer support capacity to begin providing peer support service.

• Developing individualised peer support capacity building plans for each provider as informed by the peer support capacity assessment document. These plans will focus on peer support capacity building for peer support workers, management, and broader provider organisational capacity for safe, effective peer support approaches

• Working in partnership with each provider to implement their peer support capacity building plan, with six monthly reviews for continuous improvement.

• Ongoing mentoring of peer support workers, management, and service teams.

• Facilitating ongoing professional development and training of peer support workers within each GambleAware region to ensure peer support workers are getting the requisite support and development to perform their roles safely and effectively.

• Delivering a helpline to provide debriefing as required for peer support workers, as well as advice for their managers and the broader provider staff who connect with peer support workers.

• Regular external supervision of peer support workers, or engagement of an external provider to deliver external supervision.

• Developing and supporting of a network of gambling harm peer support workers across NSW, including convening and facilitating a peer support worker communities of practice
